IYG 2012 - August 14: Rolling in the Deep

A National Cultural Monument and a UNESCO site – in one day. That was August 14 for the participants of IYG 2012. In the morning, we visited Hluboká (“Deep”) Castle in Southern Bohemia, which can be considered one of the most beautiful castles in the Czech Republic, rebuilt and restored in several periods – and every historical period left its mark somewhere in the castle, or at least in the adjoining gardens.

In the afternoon, we visited Český Krumlov, one of the most fascinating towns in the Czech Republic with its castle and city center protected by UNESCO. Český Krumlov Castle is the second most visited castle in the Czech Republic (obviously after Prague Castle). The city center has many little squares, narrow streets and beautiful buildings that have been preserved for us to admire.
